Be still, and know that I am God

As I read the psalms, I can't help but love how the word "Selah" jumps off the pages. It's a cue to pause and meditate on what was just read. To rest in what was spoken. Many believe it has similar meaning to "interlude", a break in singing while the instruments perform alone. In my head when I read "Selah" I say "stop, think on this, listen".

In times of busyness, confusion or discouragement, a pause to reflect gets my focus back on the things God wants me to think about. And in the quiet of that space, my appreciation for what's been shared and my anticipation for what's to come... grows. A much needed shift in my spirit happens. I'm so thankful for the way the Lord has drawn my attention to this powerful little word.

Some Selah verses to encourage you today... "Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!" The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah (Psalm 46:10-11) You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance. Selah (Psalm 32:7)
