Until You give more light

More light. The last few days I've found myself asking the Lord for more light. I'm revisiting old journals to find certainty in what looks uncertain. I was told to remember and so I am, with a willing heart and open hands.

Today I came across a quote by Ann Voskamp I'd jotted down a year ago and it leapt off the page and into my tired soul all over again: "It takes incredible courage to wait on God in what feels like a wrong place... until He gives us the incredible gift of the right action. In the middle of things seemingly not working out for us... God is working out something in us." So... patience too then, Lord. Patience to wait in the dark until You give more light.

But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently (Rom 8:24-25).

So we’re not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us. There’s far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can’t see now will last forever (2 Cor 4:16-18).
